Garter Removal Songs

Playful, fun and cheeky songs to make the most of the garter removal and toss tradition.

The garter removal is one of the most fun and (intentionally) embarrassing moments of the wedding reception. The groom reaches under the bride's dress to remove her garter — often with his hands tied behind his back, to the great delight of the crowd — before tossing it to the gathered single men.

The music you choose for this moment should be playful, a little cheeky, and high-energy. This is not the time for subtlety. Choose something that makes the crowd laugh, cheer, and clap along.

When to Do the Garter Removal

Most couples time the garter removal about 30–40 minutes after the first dance, once the dancefloor is warmed up and guests are in the party spirit. Your DJ or MC fades down the dancing music, makes the announcement, and calls the single men to the dancefloor. Chairs are set up, the music cues, and the fun begins.

Tip: If you'd rather not do the garter removal at all, that's completely fine — it's a tradition, not a requirement. Many couples skip it or adapt it (just do the toss without the removal, or replace it with something else entirely). Your wedding, your call.
