Wedding Prelude Music

The music playing as your guests arrive and take their seats. Classical, contemporary, and instrumental options for every style of wedding ceremony.

Your prelude music plays as guests arrive and take their seats — usually in the 30 minutes before the ceremony begins. It's the very first piece of your wedding soundtrack that guests will hear, making it one of the most underrated planning decisions you'll make.

Far from being background noise, your prelude sets the emotional temperature for everything that follows. A string quartet playing Bach tells guests something very different from an acoustic guitarist playing Ed Sheeran. Choose music that reflects who you are and signals the tone of the day ahead.

Tip: Plan for 8–12 songs in your prelude playlist. You don't need to specify every track — give your musician or DJ a genre direction and let them fill the rest. Focus your energy on the first song (the one playing when the doors open) and the final song before the processional begins.
